Lockdown doorstep portrait photography Kirkcaldy, Fife
As a Fife portrait and wedding photographer, I kicked off a little photography project during lockdown. I wanted to capture some family portrait photographs on my local estate in Kirkcaldy, Fife. I was able to photograph ensuring social distancing rules were observed and respected throughout the short sessions.
My main aim was to capture family life in lockdown and to lift people’s spirits during these difficult times. The family portrait photo shoots were free of charge with the aim of putting a smile on people’s faces and making people feel good about themselves.
I’ve been working right through the pandemic so this was also a great way for me to relieve some stress after a long day at work. It kept me both active and sane as all my family portraits were within walking distance and I was accompanied by my wee dog!
The photo shoot was also a great way to meet so many people from different backgrounds and to hear their stories and experiences of lockdown. I met and photographed professionals such as nurses, teachers, carers and hairdressers to see how they coped.
By capturing these moments for families, it will give them something positive to look back on in years to come. It also serves as a reminder of how precious life is and to make the most of it. Coronavirus has certainly proved that nothing in life is guaranteed.
I photographed about ten families in Kirkcaldy, Fife. Here are a few of my favourites.
