Small and Intimate Weddings in Kirkcaldy

Fife Kirkcaldy Wedding Photographer

Since the pandemic, I’ve photographed more smaller weddings than ever before. Especially, in my hometown of Kirkcaldy, Fife and they are amongst my favourite weddings to photograph! I find that with these more intimate weddings, it seems less daunting for the couple as there are generally fewer guests and the environment is a bit more relaxed and less formal looking. Having had a small and intimate wedding myself just a couple of years ago, we felt a lot at ease. We only had 35 guests and it was easy to mingle with them without being overwhelmed. We’re both quite shy by nature so having a small and intimate wedding was perfect for us. It felt like we had plenty of time for our guests to interact with them.

I think, during the pandemic and the restrictions, it forced some couples to change their plans and also a lot of couples reflected on what they really wanted and questioned whether they wanted the big wedding as initially planned. I think people realized that smaller weddings were the way to go. I know from experience, that several of my couples scrapped their plans for a big wedding in favour for a micro wedding. It’s also a lot lighter on the pockets, too so if you’re worried about not being able to afford a big wedding, it’s definitely worth considering a small wedding such as a registrar wedding ceremony. The way I see it is that it’s your day and you do as you see fit for you both.

Wedding ceremonies at Kirkcaldy Town House

The weddings I’ve photographed have taken place largely at our local Kirkcaldy Town House near the high street. I’ve also photographed weddings at the local Victoria Hotel. Kirkcaldy Town House location is perfect as it’s in the centre of town which plenty of amnesties nearby. Quite often, couples and their guests will go for a sit-down meal at one of the local eatery places to celebrate after. Outside the Town House is a large paved garden which is perfect for group photos.

When it comes to the couple’s photos, I tend to take the couple to a nearby area such as the Beveridge park or in Dysart. Both places make for a lovely setting for some couple’s wedding portraits. The kissing trees near Kinghorn is less than ten minutes away and I’ve taken couples here for some romantic photos, too. There are plenty of photo opportunities nearby.
