Keavil House Hotel wedding photography – I’ve known Sharon & Dan for a number of years and I was honoured when asked to photograph their wedding back in September, 2018.

The couple got married at the beautiful Keavil House Hotel, near Dunfermline, Fife. A popular Scottish wedding venue due to its remote surroundings and ample leisure facilities. It was also my first time photographing a wedding there and it did not disappoint.

The wedding day

I arrived to the wedding venue nice and early to get prepared for the day ahead. I also met Dan, the groom who was upstairs in one of the hotel rooms getting ready for his big day. He was there with his groomsmen and also his best man, Elvis whom I know well. I wanted to be there early for the bride’s arrival to the wedding ceremony as I think this is an important part of the day. I mainly like to capture any candid moments and also photos with the bride’s parents. This is something I include in all my packages when attending the wedding ceremony.

It was a good thing I did arrive early as the bride and her bridal party rocked up in a vintage blue VW Campervan! Everyone were having lots of fun and we took plenty of photos. We also used the Campervan to shelter us from the rain! Welcome to Scotland…

The wedding ceremony

The wedding ceremony took place in Keavil House Hotel’s large Elgin Suite. The room is quite light and airy with it’s large windows at the front of the room. The room is very generous in size and it can hold everyone comfortably. From a wedding photographer’s standpoint, it was a dream! I was freely able to roam around the room capturing lovely wedding photographs from different angles.

The wedding itself was very laid back and loosely based on Lord of the Rings with a woodland theme and lots of greenery. This showed in the decor of the wedding ceremony room and reception.

Sharon & Dan both made it clear they wanted relaxed, documentary style wedding photographs and this is exactly what they got.

After the ceremony, we took the main group shots on the large grounds of the hotel before heading inside for the wedding reception.
The evening was filled with laughter and wonderful company. Amazing food and drink – I vouch to this day, it is the best food I’ve had at any Scottish wedding venue I’ve been to.

Thank you Sharon & Dan for including me  in your big day. I Wish you both the very best.
