Broxmouth Courtyard Wedding

The big day finally arrived for Fiona & Ash for their wedding at the beautiful Broxmouth Courtyard, near Edinburgh. It was a wedding I’ve been looking forward to photographing for so long. I had heard so much about this new and upcoming Scottish wedding venue.

I first met the couple in Winter 2021 for their pre wedding shoot in Pitlochry where they were staying for the weekend. We discussed their plans for the wedding day and they were tying up some loose ends with their wedding venue.

Nikah ceremony at Edinburgh Central Mosque

Before you know it, the day had arrived. The sun was shining and the day started nice and early at the Edinburgh Central mosque for the couple’s Nikah ceremony (Muslim marriage service) because of Ash’ Muslim background. This was my first Nikah ceremony that I have photographed and I absolutely loved it. I love experiencing wedding ceremony’s from other cultures.

From there, we drove the 45 minutes to Broxmouth Courtyard in Dunbar for their wedding and reception. I also played taxi and had a few of the guests with me for the drive down!

Bridal Preparation

The wedding photography coverage began in the main Broxmouth House with bridal preparation photos for Fiona and her bridal party which consisted of her bridesmaid and mother. This was a very candid and relaxed affair. Once Fiona was ready, we were ready for the – father of the bride reaction photograph! This always makes for a beautiful photo where the dad will see his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. I love taking photos of these moments.

Groom Preparation

With Ash also getting ready at the same venue in one of the many lodges that Broxmouth Park Estate has to offer, I managed to visit him to get some groom preparation photographs. Most of the time, I photograph the bridal prep because usually this is the more popular request when couple’s book me. If couples wish to have the groom photographed, too then I suggest that a second wedding photographer is booked. In this case, because both bride & groom were getting ready at the same venue, I managed to do both! If I feel it’s doable, I’ll do it.

The Wedding Ceremony

The guests were now arriving for the outdoor wedding ceremony next to the beautiful 500 year old Fragrance Tree and the excitement began to build as well as some nerves.
The wedding ceremony was conducted beautifully with lots of laughter and some happy tears were shed. The day proceeded with some lovely photos of the couples and their guests on the wonderful and spacious grounds that Broxmouth Courtyard has to offer before finishing off the evening with their reception.

Thank you to both of you for letting me capture your wedding day.
