Fife Family Photographer

I received a call from Jo during the pandemic when the restrictions lifted asking if I could photograph her extended family who were coming to visit at their home in Kirkcaldy, Fife. Jo mainly wanted to have some group photos captured with various family members who had travelled far and wide to be there. She booked my one hour professional Fife family portrait shoot with prints to have these photos taken at her home. Luckily, I live only five minutes away so I was more then happy to pop down with my camera and get some lovely photos of them all; while I wasn’t far away from Jo, if you want to book me for a family portrait photography session I’m more than happy to travel to you.

I enjoy taking family lifestyle photos at clients’ homes as I feel it brings out the best in people as they’re in a place that is familiar and warm, and they can be themselves. It feels less like a photo shoot for them and so they’re more comfortable in front of the camera which makes my job easier, it’s a lot of fun and it’s lovely to chat with everyone. We were lucky with the weather as the sun was shining so we used the garden space as a backdrop for the family group photos. Jo provided me with a list which we went through and got all the most important photos that they wanted including some generation photos, grandchildren, grandparents and so on.

These photos obviously mean a lot to them as some of these people may never be able to travel again and see some of their loved ones. It will give everyone fond memories to treasure in years to come. In between these I took a few candid and natural family photos, which I believe make for the best kind of photos. It was great to meet the family and chat with them. Some had travelled from far afield such as Japan and USA, Australia and it was great to hear all about it. I love talking to people and listening to their stories. It’s one of the best parts about being a Fife family photographer; people always have something interesting to share from their lives. Taking photos is just one part of the job. It reminds me of a recent family portrait photoshoot where we had a message from a family member in space! After you’ve finished reading this blog take a look at that one here.
